Until We Meet Again, Stan

Published in the Infinity2 Enews on 19 October 1999

The soft-spoken wisdom and gentle laughter of Stan Bynum will no longer be heard in the halls of lnfinity2. Following a courageous battle waged against an aggressive form of pancreatic cancer, Stan Bynum passed away on October 13th. His illness was diagnosed on September 14th and ran its course all too quickly. Though the battle was lost in the natural realm, Stan's last day was one filled with love, prayers and bittersweet joy from the people closest to his heart.

Early in the morning of October 13th a supernatural peace engulfed the Bynum home, tucked away in the hills outside of Dallas. Friends and family visited throughout the day amid story telling, singing of old Hymns and reading of the Holy Scriptures. Stan was very alert and reveled in the presence of the family members he cherished so dearly. As the story of Jesus raising Lazarus from the grave was narrated, a tear fell from his gentle eyes. Although Stan was unable to verbalize his thoughts, his emotions were clearly conveyed to those around him. It was a very good day for Stan Bynum, and no one seriously considered it might be the last they would share with him on Earth.

As evening drew nigh, the family busied themselves with an almost-normal routine of family life, very comfortable that Stan was sleeping so peacefully. While four of his seven children sat just outside his room, his wife and a close friend from Infinity2 reminisced of happier times. Around 10:30 that evening, Stan's wife, Dianne, checked on him again. The stillness of death was now all too evident as the Angel of the Lord had escorted him home. The final Sabbath had indeed come for Dr. Stan Bynum. In another place and time this would have been a time for great sorrow; but as Stan's children and grandchildren gathered around him one by one, the promise of hope and the comfort of God's peace was miraculously bestowed upon each member. The Lord did what He promised He would do: "He wiped away every tear."

Before his death, Dr. Stan Bynum was able to convey his dream for the future of his life's work. On September 16th , Infinity2's President and CEO Ed Hoyt visited with Stan for three days. During that visit, Ed asked Stan directly:

"What is it you want Infinity2 to do if you are unable to come back?"

Stan responded, "During my absence, I ask that you carry on with my work and continue to share the truth."

lnfinity2 is committed to carrying out Stan's wishes to the very best of our abilities. The legacy of Dr. Stan Bynum continues on now in the hearts of his innumerable friends and colleagues and in the lives of so many that have benefited from his research and commitment to quality of life. The impact of his achievements span the globe, from the highest echelon of prominence and success to the unpretentious world of a five-year-old boy who now enjoys a life free from debilitating allergy symptoms. Stan's wisdom and insight extends to the world of major league baseball each time a team member using one of his formulations steps onto the playing field and experiences renewed strength and energy. Dr. Stan Bynum's role in history is not finished. His work will continue because of the contributions he's made to the people he loved, even to those he didn't know personally. Each of us will carry Stan's legacy in our hearts and memories until we meet again.
